Why I became an ADHD Coach and ADHD UK Ambassador

For much of my life, I couldn’t quite understand why everything felt so overwhelming. Work was a struggle, stress was a constant, and I often blamed myself for not coping better. It wasn’t until my late thirties—when I was diagnosed with complex PTSD—that I began to unravel the layers of my mental health.

Yet, something still felt missing.

Menopause brought its own challenges, making me question whether hormones were behind my ongoing struggles. Then, while seeking support for my teenage daughter during her ADHD and autism assessments, I had a profound realisation—the symptoms they described mirrored my own lived experiences.

It was a lightbulb moment!

Determined to advocate for myself, I pushed for answers despite initial resistance from my GP. With guidance from ADHD UK and other support groups, I fought for a diagnosis—finally receiving it at 52.

That moment felt like a weight lifting.

After years of feeling overlooked, misunderstood, and out of place, I finally had the validation I needed, but there was something missing. After my diagnosis there was no support offered, other than a self-referral to a 7-month waiting list for talking therapy!

I had to seek out my own support, which led me to train as an ADHD practitioner and coach. As I deepened my understanding of my uniquely wired brain, I simultaneously processed the impact of my late diagnosis. With that came a wave of emotions—grief, sadness, and anger—over the 52 years I spent not fully understanding my struggles.

Now, after using all the resilience tools and EFT tapping I use with my coaching clients I’m embracing my whole self, letting go of self-doubt, and stepping into a new chapter with understanding and self-compassion, and I would love to help you do that too!
